White half of red and white output ports on tcl flatscreen not working.

I have a aux cable (red and white on one side and headphone jack on other side) hooked into the audio output jacks in the back of my tcl flatscreen. The other end is a headphone jack, connected into the aux input port of a home stereo system. I recently realized that the left speaker is no longer working. After trial and error I've have narrowed it down to find out the white output port in the red and white audio output is not functioning properly. Does anyone have a quick fix? Or am I looking for some professional assistance?

Are you sure it is the output and not the cable? Your home receiver should have white-and-red (aka RCA) inputs, why not use them?

Some TVs have optical out audio port for connection to amplifiers.
