why does Vegas 12 change a 4gb video to 10.51gb

Whenever I upload a 4 gb video it renders as 10.51 gb and I am unable to burn a dvd, what is causing Vegas 12 to increase the size of the video?

The original 4 GB video is probably in a compressed file format, whereas in Vegas your outputting it in an uncompressed file format, hence the resulting file is much larger than the original.

In Vegas you must choose the correct output file format, one that uses compression like the original.
You can also adjust the output bitrate in Vegas to control the resulting file size.

I agree with Phillip, there is something in the export settings you need to change. Check the export settings to see if there is a DVD export option. In Premiere this is a MPEG 2 DVD option. There may be a similar option in Vegas.
