why is Google Chrome is eating far more resources than it should?

i recently upgraded to windows 8.1 and decided to give the task manager a once over. i had already downloaded and installed Google Chrome when i noticed the one webpage i had opened had spawned like 6 tasks under the processes tab. closing anyone of the ram hungry Chrome tasks resulted in Chrome chrashing, while refreshing the page respawned the closed task. i went and opened a tab on another computer in chrome running Windows 7. same page as im running on this computer, and the task manager on 7 only shows one process for chrome, with less RAM usage. why is this?

hi,

Google says they are the fastest browser, but also the biggest pain.

But it might be flash player acting up, maybe you have buggy plugins. You might want to remove or update them.
download adwcleaner, roguekiller and malware byte to look for viruses and unwanted programs
