Solved! why is my computer now saying my printer is not connected. It has worked for over a year, now I am getting that message.

my canon printer mg6220 was connected to my mac. Now it is saying it is not connected

Is the connection wired or wireless? If it is connected via a USB cable then try unplugging the USB cable and reconnecting it. I've had the same problem through a wireless connection. Resetting the router worked for me.

had to reconfigure my friend's router twice as it reset itself once back to default to get his pixma5220 printer to work with both his & his wife's macbooks.
