Why wont my head unit play the music on my external hard drive

I have a pioneer DEH6000ub and i have a 320gb external hard drive its formated to FAT32 and i have like 500 songs on it and my headunit is telling me there is no audio ive tried everything any suggestions

Not fast enough transfer rate? Couldn't that be why? 320gb isn't that too much for FAT32? Why isn't it in NTFS?

P.S. http://www.ntfs.com/ntfs_vs_fat.htm says max is 2tb on some os.

the only way my head unit will read it is in FAT32

So your headset gets plugged right into the hard drive? Why not just put it into the computer and run it through wmp or itunes?

the "head unit" is in my car and want to play the audio in my car how can i get it to work

Are you sure the files are in the right format? If you have the manual check that. And maybe you could try putting a 1gb partition on the drive in case it cant read the 320gb total. If it cant try putting on more small partitions. Hope that helps. :/

I think that might be the problem. That's the only info I could find. Sorry that I cant tell you any better news.
