Hello,

I've had my laptop (lenovo y510p) for 8 months now and never had much problems. But recently I noticed I needed a cooling pad, so I got one. It's from Conrad, it's alu and has a lot of holes in it for the air, it really looked like a good design. But after just a day I noticed that it was limiting my wifi connection.
E.G. I have a normal download speed of 1.4 Mb/s, then when I put my laptop on my cooling pad it goes down to ~300Kb/s, and when I lift my laptop again of the cooling pad it goes back to 1.4 Mb/s. The ping with cooling pad is also worse as without the cooling pad.

Is there a way that I can fix this and keep the cooling pad?

Solution
wait what.... its aluminium?
If the pad is aluminium then it blocks your internal antena and thats why you get bad signal
I always go for plastic cooling pads

Do you maybe have some links or examples of plastic cooling pads? Because I can't find much.
And is a metal mesh also bad? Because those I find a lot.
