Wififofum problems....

I just downloaded the recent wififofum version, and tried it on my Ipaq
2215, with a Netgear MA701 CF card. Although the program seems to be
running, and I can change to the "radar" screen, absolutely nothing shows
up! Yet I can find nearby APs, and connect to open ones without any problem
using the other software. Any suggestions? The only setting I can find is
"device", and nothing in the list looks like the card, so I've tried each
one with no change... Previous versions of this program did the same thing,
but I was hoping this one would work for me!

I recently downloaded wififofum onto my new dell axim x50. It has
built in 802.11 and I got the gps package with it. Am I supposed to
have the gps hooked up to it in order to see any AP's? I'm not getting
anything on radar with just the 802 activated and doing a scan. Also,
under tools>device...what do all of them mean? Should I be picking one
of them and sticking with one of them? Or does each one of them search
for something different? I just want to search for AP's and/or try and
get internet access through one.

I don't see your device on the supported hardware list...

So you might want to post to the WiFiFoFum forums for help...

This seems to follow past trends. A new device comes along with a new wifi
card that is not recognized by the freeware wifi locating applications. This
was the case with my toshibas when they were cutting edge. Eventually the
writers released updated versions that work with the newer cards.
Pocket WiNc will work on the x50v (I'm using it on mine) but it's not free.
Or you can wait until a freeware one is released that is compatible with the
x50v.
I haven't looked in awhile since I've paid for WiNc but you can check pocket
warrior, netstumbler and wififofum's sites for new releases. If history repeats
itself they'll eventually release a version that will work.

Dean

Do you get a better signal from the local area networks if you use a
gps device?
