So the coax port fell out of my tv earlier today. There are hdmi ports so I was considering getting a coax to hdmi converter. I was wondering if the TV tuner would still work through HDMI or if that is a coax specific option. Might be a really stupid question but I am not sure of the answer. Thank you for your help.

So essentially, either I buy a separate tuner with an HDMI output or a new TV?

We've been getting a few of this broken coax port, are you guys that rough with it? :)

You cannot convert, you need an external tuner as already mentioned, or if subscribing to cable, the vendor will give you a set-top box, that box is your new tuner.

The antenna input on most TVs are poorly connected directly to the tuner board and aren't hard to break off. Thin metal poorly welded in place just lets go and it can't be easily repaired since solder isn't strong enough. Replacing the entire board is usually too expensive.
It may be possible for a tech to solder some RG6 antenna wire to the board with a female F connector on it. Not neat and can still break again easily
