I have an Acer notebook and about a week ago it froze so I decided to restart it. Ever since then, it only manages to load to the "acer" screen and stays stuck on either "scanning and repairing drive :)C) -%" for days (highest percentage it got to was 30%) or "repairing disk errors. This might take over an hour to complete" for days (literally).

I downloaded a recovery drive onto a USB so I can try to refresh windows but its not showing up. I've tried pressing F8/F8+shift on the start up but its still not working. Any solutions? Preferably one that doesnt mean I have to lose my work thats due next week!

From the sounds of it, your work that's dues is probably already lost.
Replace the drive, reiinstall windows , get a usb drive enclosure and then you can attempt to recover files from the old drive using something like Recuva or Testdisk.

Hi Jess47,

Do you have any other hard drive? If yes, then replace it with the ruined drive. According to the details provided by you, it seems that something is wrong with your Hard Drive. Just replace the old drive with the current one and see if this can work for you.
