Not long ago I built a new PC on Ryzen 2700X, I just purchased a 3800X and swapped it out, but it will not boot into Windows 10. It sits at the Windows logo with circle spinning endlessly.

  • Doesn't boot into Windows 10 normal mode on 3800X
  • Boots fine into Safe Mode on 3800X
  • Doesn't clean boot on 3800X either
  • After switching back to 2700X boots fine

I've updated to the latest AMD chipset driver and AMD CPU master and nVidia driver too. I would really like to prevent reinstalling Windows 10, but I'm running out of ideas of what could be the cause.

MB - MSI x470 Gaming Carbon running 7B78v29M BIOS
Graphics - MSI GTX 1080 Ti Gaming 11G OC

Could this be tied to the Linux and Destiny boot issues? I've not heard of anyone not being able to boot into Windows 10 though.

Just downloaded the newly released non-beta BIOS (7B78v29) and it now works correctly. Yay!

I did call MSI support last week to see what they suggest and I have to say I'm seriously disappointed. Not only the rep didn't seem interested in solving my problem, but his only suggestion was to reinstall windows. He wasn't willing to provide any insight into when a non-beta BIOS can be expected to be released either, so I'm glad that it didn't take too long.
