So recently i got a nasty couple of viruses and trojans, and this "disabled" windows defender so i had to download other anti viruses to get rid of the viruses, it worked and now my pc is fine and i uninstalled the third party anti virus programs. But now when ever i got to launch windows defender i get a message saying "your system administrator has restricted access to this app" and by the life of me i cannot fix it!! any help at all would be appreciated! please!

Solution
Very possible.

Tactically I can see the effect of altering Defender (or some other AV tool) to "discredit" that application and prevent it from running.

Would not take much to corrupt the digital signature.

Try a repair or reinstall.

Take a look at the following link:

Overall objective being to reinstall Windows Defender/Windows Defender Security Center.

Search online for other options as well. Look for a concensus that seems applicable before doing anything. Back up all data etc. and verify the backup.

Verify that you are logged in with admin rights.

Are you able to go into Task Manager > Services and enable Windows Defender there? What status is shown?

Right click Windows Defender in the Services tab and open the Services Window. Scroll down to Windows Defender, Right click again and select properties.

Check the various settings and configuration options availble via the tabs in the Service Properties Window.

ok this got me very far into it! i went to the "start option" in services and it came up with an error message saying "Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is singed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source." that word from word what it said.

when i right clicked on windows defender in services and clicked on services and went to windows defenders properties
and went to start it up from there (pretty much every thing is grayed out btw in properties) it said "Windows could not start the Windows Defender Service on Local Computer. Error 577: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source".

would the virus i recently had left behind some changed settings or something?
