wired xbox 360 controller work connect to pc

i have a wired Xbox 360 controller for my pc and all the home button does is blink and it never works. help? I've tried looking up videos, updating drives and the works. I'm at a loss for this one

Never mind lol, thanks though. I realized that my controller was a wireless one that I was trying to connect with the charger cord. All I need is a wireless receiver 😛
