Solved! Wireless keyboard for smart tv?

I am looking for a wireless keyboard for an older lg smart tv. It wouldn't be used often, but when we need to get in and type logins and password and when we search for titles in netflix etc., using the tv remote is a pain. Thanks for any ideas.

like phillip said what is the model number of your television, if LG and you cann see the label because it is mounted on the wall (like mine is) grab remote click on tools/settings button, from that menu go to network and possibly look for "Mt TV name or goto the circled ? and should be able to find it there as well

Be sure there is not a smartphone App for this.

So OK assumes your TV accepts a USB KBD.

I wholeheartedly recommend the Logitech K400 series. Is smallish with a built-in touch pad, no backlit but the price is right and my batteries is been there for like 3 years! great for occasional use.

Was looking at this. Seems there are multiple models with different options. 600? 800? Won't see high use. 400 will fit the bill for basically helping make it easier to use Netflix?

And this one is usb? Is bluetooth the newer option? If we replace the tv, are we likely to still have usb use or will we then need a bluetooth option?

Logitech K400 is WIRELESS, it comes with a USB dongle, but there is no driver necessary to install. Will work for anything that requires long text input.

I have no opinion on the 600/800. I looked for a long time, and the K400 is what I picked, I liked it so much, got another for the bedroom.

The K400 is adequate for short text entry like when searching for shows. But the keyboard feel is rubbish compared to a desktop or even a laptop keyboard. Shouldn't be a problem unless you're planning to write an essay on it. Just be aware of what to expect. I dunno if the newer K400+ has improved on the K400, but its reviews seem to be slightly lower so probably not.

It uses a Logitech unifying receiver, so the price is almost worth it just for the receiver (receiver costs $8.50 on its own, keyboard is about $20-25, frequently goes on sale for $15-$20, was $10 this past Black Friday). I can confirm that the battery is phenomenal - mine went 3 years as well.

I suspect though that any wireless keyboard will work, as their USB interface seems to be universal (kinda has to be to be able to work in computer BIOSes without installing any drivers).
