Would a Mini-PCIe replace a broken internal nvidia gpu?

Dear all,

Thank you for stopping by this topic as I need your help and expertise before committing to spend unnecessary money on a solution that might not work.
A friend gave me a broken LG laptop: the internal NVidia gpu has the common BGA problem.
After some time of use, it breaks some contact from the board and the picture becomes repeated 4 times on the screen.
I've reflown the gpu at least 4 times already but after some use it turns the same unusable state.
I've searched for solutions and found Mini-PCIe adapters. Those would be great since I use this as a desktop but I have some questions that remained unanswered on my research:

1 - Will it entirely replace the nvidia gpu?
2 - Would I have to use an external monitor or would I be able to use the Laptop's one?

Thank you for your help!

Solution
If your system will run from the PCIe card it will use it as the video card, you can disable the nvidia one.

Yes you will need an external monitor, and may need a power supply for the card and adapter.
