[citation][nom]blurr91[/nom]The conspiracy theorist in me believes Microsoft secretly wants the "current" Xbox 360 banned by the government. Then it would release the "legal" Xbox 360 using a different wireless technology (possibly bluetooth) with accessories that are incompatible with the "banned" version. Everyone would have to buy hardware all over again to play the games they already own. People will blame Microsoft. Microsoft will just say "hey...don't look at us...Motorola (and Google) sued us and Obama signed off on it."[/citation]

That is definitely not the case, Microsoft initially was losing money on the hardware and is maybe break-even now. This is the model used for most consoles, lose money on the hardware in order to sell the very profitable software. I highly doubt MS wants to subsidize new consoles when the real money is in the games...

[citation][nom]jimmysmitty[/nom]Ummm..... Motorola is an American company (they started in Illinois making car radios) so if they got a ban then it has already happened. Thats irrelevant to the matter. The problem I see is that they want to ban the product which has sold millions already and will still sell. For the consumer thats not the best thing to do. Look at VALVe and Blizzard. Instead of a long drawn out lawyer war, they settled the matter very fast without any issues. Why can't Motorola and Microsoft do the same? If it truly is a infringement on Motos patents, then they will set an amount for use of the patent (a fair amount, not some insane price) and Microsoft will pay them then pay a small percentage for every unit sold. That is the best way to hanlde this issue for the consumer. Instead Motorola wants to ban the product and potentially screw thousands of retailers who have already bought the X360 to resell.[/citation]

Thanks for the correction, I totally forgot that Moto is an American company, and now stays American due to google purchase. But nonetheless, I think a ban would be good to show MS that they can't have it their way. They got Moto banned and they should be treated the same no excuses here. There are other retailers that most likely bought Moto phone stocks and have had to deal with the import ban so let MS deal with those who bought their product. IMO, this would make it easier for big companies to come to terms in the future for the better of customers. Dont' like lawsuits and patent crap but if you ask me,MS deserves this one yet again let's hope they come to terms!

[citation][nom]gogogadgetliver[/nom]Look at all the Microsoft haters. So bitter. It's not about the infringement. Microsoft didn't even debate if they were using the technology (like Google does with Android). Motorola is intentionally setting a price on the patents that they know won't be accepted (and giving 20 days to decide? A lawyer can't tie shoes in that amount of time) so that they'll have leverage in the areas where they've stolen technology.Put it this way. Microsoft pays 6.5 million in royalties for 2,339 separate patents for H.264. Motroloa is asking for $4 BILLION for just 50 patents. They want $4 in royalties for a $3 microchip. These are industry standard patents. Part of the standards body accepting them as a standard is a requirement that they license to anyone in reasonable terms.Such haters.[/citation]

Couldn't agree more. Apple gets it in the neck and MS gets it in the neck - only google seems immune from criticism. It happens on ALL the popular hardware sites I visit. I can only assume google is sock puppeting cos the users here aren't that stupid.

Google is patent trolls just like everyone other company.

AFAIK search is the only thing google do that is better than everyone else - everything else they do is an overhyped copy of a market leader. Down vote me all you want - you know I'm right.

MS should not be banned but fee'd. If they are banned then what about the current owners and Xbox live. then there is COD and HALO...
