Alright, I've googled this, watched youtube videos, and read a few posts but I can't seem to figure out something that seems so easy. Basically one day I was like I wonder if I can use my gaming headset for xbox on my pc, saw a youtube video where the guy said all you need is a 3.5 2x male 1x female y splitter. So I went out and bought one today, I've been messing around with settings and trying to get this to work.

Everytime I plug everything in the same two things happen, sometimes only one at a time. 1.) A really really awful noise is being projected from the mic, 2.) There is simply no sound from the mic. I thought it might be a connection issue but I have sound no problems there, I saw a post where the different jacks are displayed and the splitter has the jacks needed for this to work. So are there any tricks, software, guides to help me out with this. I've been starting to broadcast on twitch and I'd much rather use my 4 shots then my crappy walmart mic.

Thank you,
Chris.

Well I'm not trying to use both at the same time I just want to use my headset for xbox specifically for my pc. I'll never use pc/xbox at the same time.

Yah but the problem is, when I do this the headphones have sound but when I test the mic there is a really awful noise that drowns out my voice. When I unplug the stereo side the mic works fine but once I plug in back in that noise instantly is back.
