Um, did you guys not read the story that was linked AT THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE ARTICLE? It states, clearly, that he gave his account to someone else so that he could get the Recon Armor, and that person used an offline cheat to give him the proper achievements.

So yeah, he cheated. Even if he didn't mean to. Microsoft had every right to do what they did.

[citation][nom]itchyisvegeta[/nom]From one who has a niece with autism, I think he should get the achievements back regardless. If a boy with autism can figure out how to cheat, then he deserves a special achievement just for that. I am being serious![/citation]

Well i would give him an achievement "ban Hammer" i hate cheaters even if they have someone cheat for them imo they are just as bad.

He's a cheat, and his Mom now admits it:

He cheated in having a friend get him Recon Armor, and other achievements out of order and OFFLINE... achievements which can *only* be achieved in-order, and ONLINE.

He's a cheat. My little brother in law is a fairly high funcitoning autistic child. My wife is an ABA therapist and studying to be an occupational therapist who will likely work with autistic kids. I've got nothing but love for special needs families and children... but this story is an exploit of the worst kind. The kid and his Mom are just wrong. Microsoft did the right thing here. They are not bad, or evil, or anything else. They have rules, and the kid/Mother broke the rules. Simple as that. The autism shouldn't have even come into this discussion, because it's just a sympathy ploy.

itchyisvegeta :
He didn't figure out how to cheat. He new another kid who could cheat, and gave that kid his profile to unlock armor he didn't earn, and get achievements he couldn't achieve.

He's a kid who tried to get away with getting something he didn't earn. Autism doesn't make kids more or less dishonest. This kid and his Mom are dishonest, and they're trying to make a villan out of MS. I have no sympathy for people like that.

The mom knew her son had cheated. She lied to gain sympathy in the hopes of getting something out of Microsoft.

At first read, I was P.O.'ed that Microsoft had done this. But, the kid gave out his account credentials to someone who did cheat to earn him achievements. The mom was aware, but left this vital fact out of the story.

The autistic child growing up in today's society has enough of a setback. This one has the additional setback of having a mother who's an attention junky wh0re.

It is impossible to cheat at a video game! If the game allows you to do something, it is because the programmers made it that way (intentionally or not). Also, achievements are not a competition so who cares how someone obtains achievements. People need to mind their own business.

xbox live just did the same thing to me.my son who as aspergers was locked out of his own account by hackers. i received over 600 dollars worth of charges on my bank card from games purchased and downloaded. as i was on the phone with customer service complaining more charges of downloads were still coming in. chris, reuben and eric from financial services were all in agreement that my sons account was hacked especially since i dont have a harddrive or storage space which they checked themselves. i waited for my refund, then their legal team found no evidence of foul play. when i asked for that in writing mark and matthew (supervisor) refused. i am sending emails of my complaints to as many news channels as i can, i already notied the better business bureau, they are a disgraceful organization. apparently the rich get richer by screwing all the little people. how can i allow my son to ever play xbox again if microsoft refuses to stand by their customers. i am out alot of money.
