last night I some how managed to destroy the back flap, on the optical out port, on my Xbox one.
now im stuck with a port that wont work I have tried to hold the cable in place it just seems the port is dead so i have been looking for a solution.

do you think it would be possible to by pass using the optical port on the xbox one and use a usb sound card with an optical out port on it to the xbox one - EG: usb cable from the usb sound card to xbox one - optical cable from the usb sound card to astro a50s.

thanks!

You can't use a sound card on the XBOX one. The port should work without the back flap but it's very tough to get the cable in there to work properly that way, try wrapping a bit of tape around the cord and then plugging it in to give it more stability in the connection. You'll have to use HDMI audio and the audio jack on the controller for a headset or use the headphone out on a TV connected to the XBOX with HDMI.
