Question: Sound is diminished and some crackling at one of the XLR ports on a Kustom speaker I use. When you take the weight of the cable off the connection, it goes away. Is this a dirty connection problem (I admit cleaning hasnt been done) or is something loose within the speaker port?

Solution
Probably the weight of the cable is slightly bending the plug's connectivity within the port. May or may not be permanently distorted.

Clean the connection, support the cable, and see if normal sound returns.

If not, test the plug somewhere else to see if the plug is damaged.

If the plug is okay then it could be a loosened connection in the speaker port or a crack in some solder joint related to the port.
