Solved! Yamaha SRT-1500 ARC functionality

I have a samsung tv(ES1750 series), optimum set top box(STB), srt-1500 soundbase(SB) and apple TV 2nd gen . Soundbase has 1 HDMI in and an HDMI out. I connected STB to SB HDMI 'in' and SB HDMI 'out' to TV 'HDMI 2 (ARC)'. I attached apple TV to TV HDMI 3. TV sound set to external speakers. STB audio heard through soundbase. How can I get appleTV sound to sound bar?

Does your "soundbase" support ARC thru its HDMI out? If not - you need another way to connect your gear.

The cheapest way is to use HDMI switch (multiple in, one out), connect STB and ATV to INs, and switch' output to soundbase' IN.

Thank you for your interest. Yes, my soundbase does support ARC. I did get Apple TV audio signal to soundbase after switching soundbase setting to 'HDMI control' to 'ON" . I did not need to have the TV sound selected to 'external speaker'.
