This is an only-VLC occuring issue. When I turn the volume of the player up, the music gets all crackly, but when the computer volume is high and the player volume low, the audio is clear. Anyone else had this issue?

This problem came out of the blue. When I open a video in VLC, there is no audio. I haven't changed the audio settings and my volume is turned on. I have even gone into the mixer to try to put the VLC volume higher, but that hasn't helped. I am running Windows 7 64-bit. Any suggestions?
