Hi all,

I am working on a new project which will require near-continuous video recording for up to 100 hours, from two separate cameras. Ideally I would like to record continuously for the duration, so that I can set up, press "Go," and walk away, but I can stop/start every 24 hours if necessary.

My first thought was that the easiest way to manage this would be to have the 2 cameras record to a large hard drive, via capture cards and computers, but I've started to realize that this would require some serious I/O and disk writing power.

What would be the best way to go about setting this up? Video quality is important. Would a camera with Dual SDXC slots be a much better choice? Run, say, a 512 and 256GB card?

I have a budget of about $3000.

Thanks for the help!

This calculator -- http://www.stardot.com/bandwidth-and-storage-calculator is good for estimating sizing for IP cameras. Stardot makes VERY good cameras. It is all about how many FPS, what original image size, and what compression ratio. At least it might give you some idea of the space required.

I don't think I/O bandwidth will be too much of an issue. Most disks can do 50+MB/s and you are only doing sequential I/O.
