Yes, it will work well. If you use HDMI, or DVI, it will auto sync the refresh to your monitor. Unless you're doing 3D, in which you need a 120Hz monitor, it's fine. Anything above 60hz is fine for gaming.

Edit for clarification:
You won't see any picture improvement over 60Hz. The reason you need 120Hz for 3D, is each eye sees 60Hz. The monitor must support it as well.
 
since you stated 100hz i take it you live in europe or other country where 50hz/100hz is the standard. in the usa the standard is 60hz/120hz. i believe it has to do with the power standards.

do you notice image delay or lag on regular 50hz screens? if not then 100hz is not going to look any better and it might be worthwhile getting an e-ips or better panel instead.
