3.5mm to RCA audio with HDMI video?

I have a Seiki LC-32G82 and the speakers are quiet. I wanted to hook up my 3.5mm speakers but there is no output for that. There are two RCA outputs, "coaxial audio" and "s-video". I found this adapter for RCA-to-3.5mm (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003L14XTO/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER) and thought it might work but the video is from HDMI and I have no HDMI audio outputs. I have read reviews though that say it didn't work when they had a similar set up but want to be sure before I buy anything. Should I get an HDMI-to-HDMI+audio converter instead (http://www.amazon.com/J-Tech-Digital-Switcher-Selector-Extractor/dp/B00QJGAKCW/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1438716780&sr=8-4&keywords=hdmi+splitter+with+audio)? I also have a ps3 that is HDMI that would be nice to use the speakers with as well, so if I need the adapter is this the right one? Thanks.

considering you have two sources to use something like that might work. it says arc compatible so should work with your tv IF (please double check this yourself!) your tv happens to have arc support on its hdmi. if it does not have arc support then it wont work.

So I have found out that my tv is 1.3 only; so no arc. I did however find this (http://www.amazon.com/Etekcity-Switcher-Selector-wirele...), which does say 1.3 compliant. Just to verify, this is the one I want, yes? Thanks again.

link is broken, but based on searching for Etekcity-Switcher-Selector-wireless it looks like JUST a hdmi switch. at least from the results that popped up for me.

JUST a hdmi switch doesnt do what you want. in your first post the one was a hdmi switch (for multiple souces) but also had built into it an audio extractor (which is what you needed). this should work fine for your ps3 since the ps3 outputs video and audio along hdmi (doesnt need arc).

however television hdmi ports are generally all inputs, given that you do not have arc support, audio will NOT pass from tv to box via a hdmi connection so the device likely will NOT work via hdmi.

options? i saw it noted that you have coax out... (orange rca plug). this could be used with a hdmi audio extractor (some feature both spdif coax and hdmi inputs). i've heard about hdmi arc adapters, but not sure if they actually work.

Ah looks like it got cut, http://www.amazon.com/Etekcity-Switcher-Selector-wireless-Supports/dp/B00IAM74UO , that is the one and its title is "Etekcity 4 Port HDMI Switcher Selector with Audio, IR wireless remote, AC power Adapter, Supports 3D 1080P, Toslink, Coaxial, 3.5mm AUX Stereo". So if I understand correctly as long as it is HDMI switch AND audio I'm ok? Thanks so much for all the information and help.

UPDATE: I ended up buying the box and it actually works just fine. I was able to plug my hdmi devices into the box, then the 3.5mm from my speakers and the audio was coming out just fine. So far so good. Thanks for the info.

nope, that one will not work. given that you do not have arc compatibility a hdmi switch is useless anyhow.

to get analog output for 3.5mm speakers you need either a 3.5mm jack on the device or rca red/white outputs. normally you see them on hdmi audio extractor boxes (some have hdmi and optical inputs). the one hdmi switch in your first post just happened to be both a switch and a audio extractor.

keep in mind what i said about getting audio from the tv though. you would need both hdmi and coax support on the extractor.

so what do you need? a hdmi audio extractor that also has spdif coax input. red/white rca output. orange coax input, hdmi input. passthrough hdmi output for video.
