We've got alot of arrogant PC fanboys on here (many of which I will be reporting after posting this). Maybe you should consider the fact that some people dont like paying close to if not over $1000 to play games and dont want to have to worry about meeting the minimum specs of a game.

With a console you pop the game in and play it, it's just that simple. I'm in IT and play consoles almost exclusivly just for that reason, so get off your high horses.

You know, no one is going to change anyone from one camp to the other(pc vs console), so cant we all just enjoy what we have and not belittle everyone that dosent see things the same way. I build htpc systems for people all the time, Just replaced 3 capacitors in the power supply for my barely 2 year old 46" Samsung lcd tv(also my htpc monitor). I'd call myself 'tech savy'. So you game on a PC, great. I game on a console. Want the ultimate in graphic quality... PC wins, hands down. Want to just buy the game and play it without any hardware issue, CONSOLE wins hands down. Both platforms have there advantages. Which one you choose is up to you.

Let the hate thumbs fly... I still like this place.

While it sounds crazy that console owners, generally a pretty technically-inclined group,
Really? I think console owners usually buy console because they don't want to get into the nitty gritty of hardware compatibility, configuration balancing and upgrading. So, they aren't very technically inclined if we agree to this premise.

[citation][nom]Gin Fushicho[/nom]I've never considered console owners technically inclined. I didn't start getting smart about computers until the PS3 came out. I had allllllll the consoles before that. All of them. I had no idea how anything worked. I put the game in, picked up the controller, and played.[/citation]

Thank you. It sickens me when people who have a nice home theater system or newer console think they are technically inclined.

Its like calling a Mac owner a computer nerd.....

This just in: Flashing your BIOS automatically morphs your PC into a massively overclocked dual Xeon system with quad-GTX480 SLI and dual kilowatt PSUs... Oh, and liquid cooling too. :D

The writer made some assumptions . The people surveyed made assumptions.
It is clear the survey performed was stupid.
Hence the writer writing stupid comments on people saying it is possible.

More journal sensationalism.

This reminds me of a thread opened opened by a member in some forum telling that one of his friends explained him that overclocking your TV Tuner would get you more channels and Video on Demand Capability. Priceless.

As for the article, It can be understood why most people think about firmware upgrades unlocking 3D goodness. As for the tech inclined comment...well..that's pretty much relative, there are people who knows just about everything but still plays in consoles, is a matter of taste and convenience as someone pointed out previously.

while many new TVs have screens that are capable of displaying 3-D content, they don't have the hardware needed to sync up with 3-D glasses. So even if 3-D support could be enabled on those TVs, it would be completely useless.

I still don't understand why a 120hz lcd tv can't upgrade the firmware and do 3d. It's fast enough to do the alternating screens. The only thing missing is the signal to the glasses to alternate frames, and that could be a simple hardware buy on the cheap.
