A pesky virus

I have acquired a virus on my Windows 10 Desktop that Windows Defender cannot wipe clean. It's called Exploit.Poweliks.Gen.4. If someone can give me an understandable solution to this it would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

For the most part, you can download free versions of most AV software.

However be sure that the download is directly from the manufacturer. There are many sites offering the free downloads but are often designed to trick you into downloading something different.
