A recordable Laserdisc: Was is ever researched?

Comparing the history of LD and DVD, there one thing that stood out is in
the in the 20 year history of of the laserdisc, no recordable format of it
was ever
released while a recordable DVD format was resleased in less than 10 years.
Why was a recordable LD format never released?

It was. Just not as a consumer format.

I had the recorder and a extra player for use with recordable
laserdiscs. These were originally purchased at a price of about 30.000
USD (thankfully not by me). But since I got these for free, this was not
much of a problem for me; what was a problem that a recordable laserdisc
costed $450 (2004!) and could only store 24 minutes of video IIRC. I
really don't see how you could have sold many of these on the consumer
market....

Recordable CD never existed until cheap hard drives with enough capacity to
hold a master image existed.

I doubt few people would have been interested in a $750,000 LD recorder.

Yeah. Studios had them. Only three million dollars. But they were great if
you wanted to release ten thousand copies.

Sony and other had them for image storage
