A7N8X, XMS3000, 2000XP processor. I think I've managed to unlock the multiplier by joining the L1 bridges, but whenever I try any other multiplier I get "CPU have over speed". At the mo I'm running it O/C at 140FSB normal multiplier and it's ok.

Can anyone confirm if the CPU is indeed unlocked, do you get this message on an unlocked CPU?

thx

You can try of a lower multiplier works. Or maybe there is some speed error hold or Watchdog option inside the BIOS that prevents booting with higher multipliers.

My dual-PSU PC is so powerfull that the neighbourhood dimms when I turn it on

Remember:

The L10 bridges code in which set of multipliers you're using. 5x-12.5x, 13x-22x.

I'm too lazy to pull out a calculator, but I'd bet you're trying to pull up to a 166mhz FSB?

You'll swap out the L10's.

Just go to the bios main window, and set halt on to no errors. I get the same when I change multiplyer from stock. The only way you can check if it is unlocked or not is by trying, so just lower it and see what happens.

Perhaps you just found my problem, I use A7N8X DLX with 2400+. I can change multiplyer to a few settings, 13 (reports as 2700+ w/ higher fsb, 2100+ w/ lower), 13.5 (as 2800+ /w higher, 2200+ /w lower), 15 (standard for 2400+), 16 (2600+), and 16.5 (reports mhz in boot).

Right now I am on 13 with 179fsb. Do I need to lockup the L10 brige to get below 13 multiplyer? Or should the nforce2 board be able to unlock for lower too?

Have you guys updated your BIOS?
Before I even tried to change multis in mine, I upgraded with the ASUS Update utility in windows, to the 1002.003 beta bios....and I can change the multi to just about anything, and it works fine. Perhaps that will help?
