acer aspire 4743. lcd panel or lcd cable?

I have an acer aspire 4743 laptop.
The problem is with the screen. It only shows black but backlights are fine. It also works when connected to an external display. How do I know if which of the lcd panel or the lcd cable is broken? Many thanks

Well you will have to open it up, the laptop, and check the ribbon cable to start. Make sure there are no dents, bends, cuts, tears, etc., in it and you should also make sure it isn't loose which would cause the display not to work.

If the cable seems good, you have the option to try and get a new cable, just to be sure.

If none of that fixes it, then it is the display that is going to need replacing.

Hi, how do you know the backlight is working? If you shine a light at an angle, do you see something on the screen?
