Achieving 1920x1080x60 through my PC to my TV

Hello,

I have a Toshiba HL167 (42" 1080p LCD) and I want to hook it up to my PC and fiddle around with a few games. I thought it might be interesting to play console-ish games (Lost Planet) on the TV with my xbox360 controller.

Anyways, I bought a SINGLE LINK DVI-D->HDMI cable (5 metres) and I could only get it up to 1920x1080x30 (1080i...still good but not good enough). I presume this is because, while single link cables are capable of 1080p, the one I happened upon is not rated for it (when I try to force 1080p, I get no signal on the TV). This means I will probably have to look for a 1080p rated single link or any dual link then right? Can anyone verify this? I'd like to be absolutely certain before I make a purchase.

I get nothing on my HL196 when pushing a 1080p signal to it as well. According to the Toshiba rep I contacted, it will only upscale a 1080i signal, so it'll display 1080p, but it has to process it internally.

At least that's what I got from between all the standard stuff about 1080p not being a real format.

That said, my manual also says to only connect the PC to the PC input, which gives a max resolution of 1024x768. Guess I need an upscaler.

Yea sounds like a problem with the display... I run my 37" westy at 1080p from my HTPC no problem (DVI).

I'd try a better cable if I was you, cheap cables are known for this sort of problem, especially in longer runs like yours. Good luck!
