Advice for VR hardware upgrade

I am currently saving up for an upgrade to my computer so I can use an HTC Vive. I believe all of my current hardware with the exception of my CPU and GPU meets the requirements. I have been thinking about getting a GTX 980 Ti for the GPU but I'm not sure what would be a good processor to go with. Is the recommended CPU shown on the steam page (Intel® i5-4590 or the AMD FX 8350) good enough or should I save up a little more? Any other recommendations for the upgrade are welcome.

Turns out that neither the 6500 or 6600 are compatible with my motherboard, would i be fine with a 4690?
