AMD RADEON 7970 Can i work only on a single GPU

Hello Forum, I need to know if it is possible running the catalyst control center on a single GPU , my other gpu is most probably busted ( black screen when enabled).
the problem is the driver shows in the device manger as functioning properly after installing the driver but i can not seem to see a diff. Any help is appreciated.

Hello All, I have and Alien ware M18xr2 intel core I7 3740 qm cpu @2.7 GHZ. I have several questions regarding the GPU?.

First i shall describe briefly what happened to my graphic cards . yes i had seen and experience the black screen did all procedure of reinstalling windows, downloading several types of drivers even taking the gpus out of the slot re applying thermo paste on the diamonds and yet the problem is still there. Therefor i concluded that it is a Hardware problem.
1- In device manager i disabled the "supposedly broken card" so I am running on one AMD 7970m card; HOw can i know which card is broken inside the laptop so i can change "the left or the right"?

2- Can i switch the graphic cards places, or there is a primary and secondary that i should respect?.

3-Should i buy 2 GPUS or just replace the broken one?
4- Should i buy a New heat sink or can i use the same old ones?
5- Can i use the same bracket of the old GPU and fix it on the New one?

6- Can i buy an NVIDA card and use the same heat sink(100w) ?

PS: Let us say I am gonna buy the same model 7970m.
