I have an ASUS N56J and I've only had it for barely 2 years. A few months ago, it started shutting off suddenly while on battery. I thought I'd missed the warning to plug in the charger, but then it kept happening every other day.

Now, 2 months later, it's happening several times a day. Before, it only happened when I was close to ~15% battery, but then it started happening around ~20% and NOW it's impossible for me to predict when it's going to happen (and prevent it by plugging in the charger) because it happens around 40%-54%(just now recently). When it shuts off it makes this awful CLICK sound, it doesn't turn itself off regularly but more as if someone forced a shut down. It can't be good????

It's still a very new laptop and this is breaking my heart because it was silly expensive and I had saved up for such a long time. Is it the battery??? I had my old laptop for 6 years before the battery stopped working... Wtf.

Please help me

Hi,

Here are some troubleshooting steps to identify if it's the battery or the laptop itself that has the problem.
- First, remove the battery and connect it directly to its AC adapter and observe if it will shut down or not.
- If it doesn't shut down that means the laptop is working perfectly fine and it's the battery that is faulty.
- If it would still shut down without its battery that means it could be the laptop itself or the AC adapter.
- Do test the AC adapter first if it's supplying enough voltage or try another AC adapter.
- Also do clean up the inside of your laptop just to make sure it's the not overheating that cause it to shutdown by itself.

Hopefully this will help. :)
