Hello Everybody and thanks in advance.

Since the update to Win 10, I'm experimenting a peculiar problem with my ASUS F550L.
After shutting down, the PC does not stop working (i.e. the leds remains active and the vents keep spinning) even if the screen shuts down correctly.

After a bit of research, I noticed that this is a known issue with Hybernation in Win 10 and I deactivated it, solving the problem.

Unfortunately, the issue persist whenever (actually not always, but most of the times) I connect the PC to the power plug (either I keep it connected and shut down, or shut down after having connected it for a while and then disconnected).
I deactivated every possible suspend or hybernate state in the advances power settings, for both battery and power plug modes, but this does not seems to solve the issue.

I honestly have no other ideas, so if anyone has solutions/advices it would be of great help.

Just a disclaimer, backup everything before doing anything.

Have you tried diabling/deleting hyberfil.sys via the following:

  • Open a command prompt with administrative privileges.
    Enter "powercfg.exe -h off".
    Exit the command prompt.

Hi EvilHamster, thanks for the reply!
I just had a look at the link you posted and tried the suggested procedure.
I'll post updates after a few reboots to see if anything changed.

Hi all,

I tried the solution suggested by EvilHamster but unfortunately, while the problem seemed solved, it also created a new problem: the laptop took minutes to turn on/off, while before it was a matter of seconds.

I decided to revert the process and try a different solution, which I have found today.

It seems that this issue is 95% of the times caused by the version 11 of Intel Management Engine Interface.

- go to Device Manager > System Devices
- search for Intel Management Engine Interface and double click on it
- on the drivers tab, check the driver release: if it's higher than 9.5.24.179, this may be the cause of your issue

Disclaimer: I'm not an expert, so proceed at your own risk

- download the drivers from the Intel Website:
https://downloadcenter.intel.com/download/23091/NUCs-Intel-Management-Engine-Driver-1-5M-for-Intel-NUC
- unistall the drivers of Intel Management Engine Interface
- go back to the Device Manager > System Devices, there will be an unidentified device (due to the fact that IMEI don't have any driver anymore) and right-click; select Update Drivers
- search manually for drivers in your pc and select the unpacked drivers you just downloaded
- not it should work (or at least, it seems that it worked for a lot of people)

I still have some issues with hibernation and sleep, but at least this problem seems to be solved!
