Asus G51VX monitor doesn't turn on

My wife owns an ASus G51VX laptop she purchsed in 2010. All of a sudden today when she pushes the power button she can hear the fan spinning and the disc drive but nothing else happens. The monitor remains dark and the LED lights on the laptop appear off, however the adapter and keys (i.e. power button) are lit.

She's tried removing all power form it and holding the power button for thirty seconds but we can't seem to figure out what is wrong. It was working not but an hour or two earlier then she put it on hibernate. When she came back and opened it up this has been happening.

Any help or suggestions appreciated.

Probably Inverter or screen or graphics chips...

Do this first...

REMOVE BATTERY AND CHARGER....

HOLD DOWN POWER BUTTON FOR 2 MINUTES...

REASSEMBLE ALL

try again....

If still the same...laptop repair shop for diagnosis..like the ones I own in the UK....should only cost you a half hours labour for a diagnosis...we charge £27.50 as an example...

We tried that for 30 seconds per another suggestion, didn't work. Will try it for 2 minutes then and see what happens. Will post back once I see if that resolves it when I return home from work.

Just got home and tried that, still nothing. The lights on the top of the laptop turn on but now i'm not hearing the fan run or anything. Just the lights.
