ASUS P55VA or ASUS PU500CA?

Hi!

I am going to buy a new laptop for my last year of university studies and work. Which one do you think is better between ASUS P55VA and ASUS PU500CA? I have links for these two laptops, but they are in Swedish.

I do business engineering and will be using it for writing reports, MS Visio, MS Office, light programming and probably some other programs that I can't get my mind on right now.

I will also be carrying around the laptop as well. ASUS PU500CA is light and weigh 1,96 kg, but has only 6 GB RAM and it's not upgradable, it also uses a slower CPU I think. The other one (ASUS P55VA) can have its memory upgraded from 4GB to 8Gb, and RAM is cheap.

I'd probably pick the lighter one if the performances of the two laptops are similar. Which one do you guys think is better when it comes to performance combined with portability?

My current laptop is a 15" HP that weighs about 2.6-2.7 kg, and it does get heavy towards the end of the day, if it's been a long day and I had to carry lots of other things with me, for example textbooks. Otherwise the weight isn't such a big problem.

The second one is better, but...... The second one uses an ultrabook I5, eventually if you start using the laptop for any autocad, ps, elements kinda stuff. You will start to notice the i5. Although, a bigger SSD may assist with that quite a bit. The first one is still decent, it's got less ram than number 2, but you can always upgrade.

The second one is probably smaller, and more attractive. But, they are both middle of the road laptops, and it's whichever has a better form factor for you. Just keep in mind the second laptop has a processor intended to save battery power, not be a work horse.

Thanks for the reply, it's been really helpful! There's one last thing that I wonder about, how much longer battery life will I get by choosing the low power CPU?
