Hello all..

Last week I had a new motherboard installed on my Asus Q500A laptop.
When I got it back the keyboard backlights no longer worked. This wasn't a problem before I sent it out for repair. Here is what I've done so far to try and fix it:

- Installed eleven different versions of the ATK package. v18, v22, v23, v24,
v25, v28, v29, v30, v31, v33, v34

- Reinstalled keyboard filter drivers

- Reinstalled Intel chipset drivers

- Reinstalled asus express cache and instant key utility

- Downgraded bios from 207 to 205, then back to 207. I don't know what
the bios on my old motherboard is.

- Installed a brand new keyboard. Thought maybe the old one was
somehow damaged when the new motherboard was installed.

- FN + F3 opens my email. FN + F4 opens my browser. These key combos are supposed to brighten and dim
the keyboard backlight

I am running Windows 8.1 64bit.

Have I missed anything? What could be causing this?

*Update* This problem is a BIOS issue. Sent it back to the service centre that installed the mother board (geek squad), and they used some kind of utility to enable the backlight feature in the BIOS.

I've been trying to figure this out for myself for some time, for me it just happened when i upgraded to 8.1, never worked in 10. Just saw a comment on a youtube video suggesting to install an ATK package from Asus https://www.asus.com/support/Download/3/588/0/1/41/

I installed ATK Version V1.0.0050
Description: ATKPackage
ATKACPI driver and hotkey-related utilities

And for the first time in years my backlight is working again.
