[citation][nom]uh_no[/nom]I love how verizon says they have 100k apps.....too bad they'll only work on the Iphone....and are really apple apps more than ATT apps....[/citation]

I'll just assume verizon=AT&T in your comment.

Former AT&T/Cingular customer here :

For the past 2 years, Cingular(changed their name to AT&T cuz Cingular has been KNOWN to have garbage service) has been giving me nothing but trouble. When I first sign up, they "fuxked" me over by transfering another line that I have "no idea" what the fuck is it. I told them thats not my line, they Took it off THEN they charged me 175 bux termination fee. I was like what the fuck. and it took me almost 2 months before they "oh yes its a mistake, MY BAD" and credit me back. and from time to time they charged me some msg or whatever that I never use/seen, but I didnt bother cuz its just like 5 cents or some shit.

did I mention that AT&T's network, like Parrdacc said, has black holes, service busy, drop calls, weak singal everywhere? and mind you I live in NYC and there should be no way that they're having all these problems.

my service expired on 11/2, I called, yell over the phone that they have garbage service and I will never join them ever again. then I pull all my lines over to T-mobile.

Ahh, so far no drop calls, no "surprised!" phone bill. no dead spot. nice.

AT&T is living off iPhone now(another garbage), Just wait till the contract between Apple and AT&T expires, then we can say bye bye to AT&T.

I always find it funny that AT&T keeps saying that "AT&T has the nation's fastest network"

I mean, sure, fastest, How you gonna go fast when it doesnt even fuxking work 99% of the time ?

LOL

[citation][nom]kentlowt[/nom]We run AT&T for our business and my personal phones. I can't speak for other areas but, I can't even recall the last time we had a dropped call. Coverage is very phone dependent. After a lot of trial and error we found that certain brand phones had horrible reception and transmition. Once we went to Nokia phones all our reception issues went away. Their customer service in the call centers are the only place I would give them a not so good of a grade. As to the iphone of course its a toy just like andriod etc. Once you get one though you can hear the difference in calls from not so good sounding phones. I just wish I didn't have to use itunes. I hate that program...[/citation]

My last phone IS a Nokia phone. still drop calls everywhere, dead spot, slow as shit 3G. rofl.

Dont blame the phone, if your network is good, most phone will work fine.

Ha! AT&T doesn't even know what they're arguing about either! Nice!
I wonder if they actually paid attention to the Verizon commercials, which clearly state the map being shown is exclusively 3G coverage. They're first two points are about the iPhone, which they have a monopoly on (in the US), which should get them shut down anyway. Besides, I don't know anyone that "talks on the phone and surfs the web simultaneously" because, well, it'd be really awkward. That's like being the mid conversation with a group of friends, then pulling out your phone to check on twitter.

[citation][nom]sslazio77[/nom]AT&T > Verizon I connect to my slingbox through 3G and it works perfectly fine, doesnt even lag or skip.. stream tv over 3g.. verizon locks down all their fones you cant do anything, not even use a ringtone some1 sends you through mms[/citation]
Um... yes, yes you can. In fact, that's how I've done almost all my ringtones on a couple differnt phones.

CNET has a prizefight video between the new Droid and the iPhone. Awesomest part of vid: Using the the Droid to call the iPhone, and the phone never gets the call... despite being a few inches away.

AT&T can lick my balls. I don't want 10,000 stupid apps, Apple produces overpriced idiot only products, Verizon has much better coverage, AT&T releasing this statement makes me hate them even more. Did I already mention they push stupid Apple products like they are "the best tech", lol. Screw Apple drones.

Verizon customers cannot use voice and data at the same time.

Are people not distracted enough already. Last thing I need is to be rear-ended again by someone on the phone. I think you should be charged per possiblity of infraction. So if i get rear-ended by someone on their "precious" they should get a ticket for texting while driving, speaking on the phone while driveing, and web surfing while driving. If someone dies, three counts of manslaughter.

I also propose a new law. Ticketing drivers for being a dumbass. It doesn't come with a monetary fine, but it does come with a free handcuffed ass kicking.

AT&T propaganda FTL!!

[citation][nom]CChick[/nom]I always find it funny that AT&T keeps saying that "AT&T has the nation's fastest network"I mean, sure, fastest, How you gonna go fast when it doesnt even fuxking work 99% of the time ? LOL[/citation]

Agreed, AT$T is faster in some locations but the speeds are negligible. I would definately sacrifice a relatively small amount of speed for greater coverage. And Verizon's coverage and reliability is not just greater, its overwhelmingly greater.

After Hurricane Ike wiped out our area we came back to rebuild survey the damage, guess what AT&T had no service. Verizon user's were still able to use their phones though. Verizon was out the next day getting the towers that went down back online. AT&T took over a week to get somewhat "reliable" service back. Shortly after that we cancelled ALL AT&T lines and switched to Verizon. My office is the remnants of a blast proof portion of the building and I can still get service with my Verizon line. AT&T would go from full bars to nothing.

So far AT&T has shown me nothing that is important enough for me to switch back. I think data and voice usage at the same time is redonkulous, the only smartphone they have that Verizon doesn't is the iPhone, but not for long, 100K in apps, again back to the iPhone comment...not for long, and faster 3G speeds...yea in less than 10% of the nation.

Even if I leave out my opinion of not liking using voice and data at the same time 2 of these "pros" will be long gone by the middle of a new two year contract, and the third is absolutely rediculous, faster "average" speeds (remember this is an average) by .3 in 10% of what Verizon offers comparable speeds to.

Downloading your "app for that" wont do you much good if it takes 3 hours to download. the iPhone is liable to burst into flames while downloading anyway.

Listen guys,

There are only a handful people who can understand what 3g really is, which is crap.

AT&T and friends know this well and also know that the average customers has no fucking idea what 3g or edge is.

I wish there were commercials that would educated people what these services are, how they work, the actual speed people would get, not the advertised. Just like there are drug awareness commercials there should "shity wireless carries" awareness as well. lol

I wonder if the iphone and all its users were exclusively Verizon, would people be bitching on how crappy Verizon's connection is as well? Personally I think all phone companies suck in some way shape or form. Until the system is perfect, there will always be constant dropped calls, slow networks, etc etc. Those Verizon commercials were never really clever but then again this statement from AT&T shows how childish they can be too. Kinda reminds me of how Mac and Nvidia handle their competition. They should leave this kind of marketing at the playground.

[citation][nom]Parrdacc[/nom]Based on my exp:AT&T has "Call Dropped" AT&T has "Call Failed"AT&T has "Network Busy"AT&T has black holes in coverage (i.e. Got no signal at all at my buddies house but if you were to walk just 10 feet down the road you got a signal, however for those who had Verizon there was no problem.)AT&T has cry babies for lawyers.[/citation]

Haven't you heard? AT&T has included these a features of thier service.

Not being able to use voice and data at the same time is normally a phone issue and not a network issue. It depends on what class the phone is given as to what its allowed to do or not. Its been a long time since I've worked on smartphones, but this is normally the case.

You can get ringtones through MMS, but I think the most flexible way to customize your VZW phone is with bitpim.

Took a trip earlier in the year to the middle of nowhere in Mississippi. My phone got a call meant for my dad b/c both his AT*T and T-Mobil phones both didn't ring at all. I mean...if Verizon has both voice and data out there, I think that speaks loads about their network.

Oh yeah, funny that the ads are showing AT&T U-verse. Tried it. Went through a 2 week outage that made the news, and switched back to Comcast.

I've used both providers and Verizon's voice coverage is way better. I have a BB Storm and I've never had problems with it. When I was on AT&T, I didn't have a smartphone, but the voice service frequently crapped out on me in the same areas that my Verizon coverage now services just fine. AT&T might have more toys, but I've found that service is more solid with Verizon. Good customer service too.

And the island of misfit toys commercials were a riot!

AT&T is crap and everyone knows that for several years Verizon has had better coverage than AT&T. There is no basis for any lawsuit whatsoever. AT&T just has their hand dipped too far in the cookie jar. ps this is coming from an AT&T user.

The current rev of HSPDA has a theoretically faster download maximum than CDMA RevA (3.6Mbs versus 3.1Mbs). AT&T is just playing legal games claiming the "fastest 3G network". Both Sprint and Verizon have faster network coverage in far more places by all surveys. AT&T's 3G coverage is poor. Sprint has 3.5x more 3G coverage, VZ has 5x more 3G coverage than AT&T.

"Unlike Verizon, AT&T offers the most popular smartphones in the industry."

"Unlike Verizon, AT&T customers have access to more than 100,000 applications, more than with any other wireless company."

"Unlike Verizon, AT&T's 3G network lets wireless customers simultaneously talk and surf the web or do e-mail."

"Unlike Verizon, AT&T has the nation's fastest 3G network."

With iPhone, the last item is false. Without iPhone, the first 2 items are false.
