Audio Ad Virus/Malware

Hello all, I've just made an account on tomshardware.com, so forgive me if I do things wrong, but I was looking for some assistance regarding the presence of malware on my laptop. For several days now, random audio adds have begun playing in the background, even at times when there is nothing currently open. Consulting my task manager, I see that process of internet explorer is open. I use google chrome, and the only circumstance in which i can remember using internet explorer(IE) is when I needed to confirm my version of java using an IE exclusive program. The process shows a random website, and that is presumably where the audio is coming from. My attempts at ending the process result in nothing, as the thing just annoyingly sits there. I use Trend Micro Internet Security, and I have scanned several times to no avail. I also download adwcleaner, another malware remover, to no effect as well. I hope I can find a solution on this website, thank you for your time.
