some televisions have pretty good speakers.
if they get loud enough without distortion, why not use them for your center channel?

of course, it helps if your television has audio inputs.
but
not all situations allow for a preamp signal to be sent to the television.


if you are asking about using the receiver for regular tv.. you need to connect the cable box to the receiver with a digital connection.
or
you could use the soundcard in your computer to accept the digital signal, add some equalization or other sound effects.. then send the output to the receiver.
and even some televisions have a digital audio output.
but if you use the television speakers directly from the cable box, the speakers will play more than intended.
