Hi folks, I have been using autocad for a while. and every once in awhile it freezes seconds after launch(after the splash screen it opens i can move the mouse around if i opened a file everything appears but i can't do anything if i opened autocad from the shortcut or acad.exe not a saved file the start tab only flashes options but i can't open saved files nor start a new drawing), i can't even close the program nor minimize nor move the window i have to force close it!
Every time it does this issue i have to reinstall it again...
It does this whenever I'm connected or even offline and at random moments. It gives me sometimes an error if i google it i get the solution on the autodesk forum to reinstall with the AV Turned off, i do as they please and Sometime later again... it Freezes!
So I found another solution it had something to do with the wscomcntr4.exe
they said that if i force close it Autocad will continue normally But guess what it didn't if it worked i wouldn't be here desperately begging for a solution.
Please Help me
(PS: the error happened on windows 8/8.1 as well as my Windows 10)

Low disk drive space, conflict with another application, some buggy update.... More information is needed.

Look at the Event Viewer logs and see if there are any error messages or codes being created and logged with respect to the Autocad launch and freezing.

Use Task Manager to see what processes and services are running.

Use "perfmon /rel" via Win + R to also get a look at errors that occur. Look for red circles with white "x's" inside and click the list for details.

Terribly sorry for the very long post :/ thanks alot man <3

Unfortunately the binary data (Words and Bytes) meanings are beyond my scope....

It appears that you have two versions of AutoCad installed (based on version numbers and application paths). Or may have upgraded from 2016 to 2017 perhaps.

I also googled "Event ID 1002 AutoCad".

Found a variety of links, albeit old, addressing much the same problem. Different solutions with varying degrees of success. Nothing noted per Microsoft either.....

Very much as you have experienced.

Do you see anything here (from the description): "check the problem history in the Security and Maintenance control panel".

My sense is is that you (and others) are experiencing one those ugly bugs that no one will take responsibility for or even attempt to really fix.

Barring something meaningful from the above "Security and Maintenance Control Panel" the next step is most likely to contact AutoCad and press the issue.

And there could still be someone else within this forum will be able to provide additional suggestions.

Is it viable/possible for you to uninstall 2016? Reason: just to eliminate possible conflict(s) between the "AutoCads" and Windows.

Either way, most likely some problem between Autocad (acad.exe) and Windows (kernelbase.dll) or corruption in the latter.

I launched a google search using "kernelbase.dll"

Here is one of many results:

http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-performance/kernelbasedll-application-crash/00e105f6-dec4-40ac-bf23-f51bb49af850?auth=1

(Has some current postings - Feb 11, 2016).

There are other links addressing similar problems and situations. Some solutions work for some people and not others.

Not seeing anything specific to suggest with regards to configuration, reinstalls, etc..

I recommend that you contact AutoCad and include your log findings. See what they can suggest. In the meantime maybe someone else (AutoCad user or otherwise) will note your posting and offer some additional insight or a potential solution.

Hi I contacted AutoDesk Support by Phone And here is what they asked:
Q1-Is the Software Pirated
A1-No, All were Either borrowed from the University Students Library with the Serial Number and Activation Code, Which were 2014 and 2015. And the last two were an Educational Product 2016, 2017 (The borrowing caused a bit of a stir followed by jokes but i guess they were fine with it I pay an extra 100$ to my Tuition to a year use of an official Autodesk Product)

Q2-When Installing Autodesk AutoCAD were there any AV running
A2- I Clarified that this is not the first time this has happened and it works for a while after installing so it's not an installation Issue, If it were an Installation Issue it would've Happened at the first Runs! Then I Explained that what they asked for is a solution that i found on theWeb on the Autodesk Forum, where a Autodesk Employee asked to reinstall while the AV is Turned Off, So every time I Install a Product I Turn off the AV.
By this Time i was getting frustrated, she was asking Stupid questions about connectivity and asking if this happens and certain times or randomly which was my case and then asked me how i proceed and for further information the information that i gave you i didn't let them hang up on me so easily

By the end of the conversation she was also frustrated and said that i was a unique case, what i Told her was Rude But I told her why would autodesk employ a person that doesn't even Know how to Google look in the web it's all over the place and your solutions are not permanent and rather Stupid Microsoft like answers because you lack the activity or skill to answer in a proper way, I Then asked a few Friends with the same problem on loud speaker to acknowledge my statement and that the case was not unique.
She answered by telling me that she apologises for failing to help me and will contact me in the future if a solution ever surfaces and then hangs up o_O

Unfortunately the overall experience you encountered is not unusual with respect to many "help desk" calls.

Wish I could offer more but there may not be a direct solution or will be only if and when someone stumbles on to it.

The overall user community needs to get Autocad's attention somehow.

You may have some advantage via the University in that as an AutoCad customer, the University may have a bit more leverage if the right person on campus can reach the correct person at AutoCad.

Especially if lots of students are having the same problem.

Even more so if there is some licensing support agreement in place.

Can you and others bump up the issue via your instructor's and/or some administrative person?

And we can still hope that another reader in this forum will be able to offer other possible fixes or ideas.
