I wonder... How much more crap will manufacturers preload on the new Windows Shitsta? Of course that goes without mentioning that something might break or bug out and blue stream of death the toilet. Surely they will release steady, regular, and solid service packs to help alleviate the stress of the pissed off consumers. Don't forget the random clogs and malwear on the toilet that illegal and/or bad Mexican interests can cause, especially Taco Bell's ads. But by the time this releases, an hour later someone will crack it with a gassy butt simple approach.

/puns

Good for ol' Bill, working to use his money for the world, unlike a certain turtle-neck clad individual who might be colorblind due to his frivolous use of black and white and anything in between.

These toilets have been around for a while. Bill Gates is nothing but a elitist world socialist hack wanting to rule our lives.

Assuming people haven't over-promised on composting toilets (i.e. that they are better/more hygienic than the traditional 'hole in the ground' approach) then I hope there's something significantly better in the pipe from Bill's chaps, rather than this being a non-story.

Burning dried dung is quite bad news from an air quality perspective iirc, being one of the problems experienced in the nastier parts of the world. Hopefully treatment / extraction of other useful bits might render anything burnable cleaner...

It's pretty clear to me that we need to alter our genes or introduce nanobots to control the waste. I imagine little robots breaking down the waste to a molecular level and using to power themselves. The waste from that can be shuttled to the fingernails, hair follicles, and sweat glands.

In other news, plumbers are now required to have A+, Network+, and MCSE certifications.

"waste could be converted into bio fuel, fertilizer and even fresh water."

I may stand to be corrected, but to my knowledge, using human waste as fertilizer is incredibly dangerous (ie makes food used poisonous to us), so that option is out of the question.

This is not any thing new to any extent. There are whole buildings that compost waste on site. Keeps energy use down, keeps waste water down, and produces fertilizer at the same time.

And research is in progress for using waste for energy sources. IMHO, this should have been happening from day one. However, we can all thank the Romans for the flush toilet.

[citation][nom]IfItsYellowLetItMellow[/nom]For a couple bucks, any toilet can modified with a simple kit. I installed 2 of them. On the rubber stopper, it can be adjusted from level 1 to 9. Higher number being the standard amount of water used when it is flushed. I have all mine set to 4. This means a full toilet could be flushed several times per tankful. If its yellow, flush and release. If its brown, hold it down (to allow more water for flushing). Im pretty sure its less than ten bucks.[/citation]
Here's a method that has been used for years and is totally free.

Put a brick in the bottom of the water cistern of the toilet, reduces the total volume of water in it, doesn't require a plumber to visit, is easily removed or can be increased with additional bricks.

But seriously, this is the kind of thing that can really change the world, have a faster PC or a 3D TV isn't going to save lives or get a Nobel peace prize, I reckon Bill is gunning for a call.

Wow, this could even redefine what BSOD means. It could be the Blue Sh** Of Death... that would be very unfortunate. :D Or, now that windows has Black Screens of Death, the toilet could have a Black Sh** of Death. Even scarier... :D
