Hi all,
I have an X1 Carbon(4th Gen, Windows10 home). I recently restored it to factory settings. After resetting I found that the brightness adjusting function doesn't work, so I went to update the Intel HD Graphic driver. Black screen immediately occurred after the installation.(I'm sure windows is still loading) I forced it to restart and it went black screen again after the Lenovo logo.
Since I don't have any restore point, the only thing I could do is to disable the driver in safe mode. After that, I tried multiple versions of the driver and none of them worked. Without the driver, now I still can't adjust brightness. The pain is still there.
Any thoughts?

Solution
Are you getting the drivers from Lenovo? If not, do that.

Also make sure you install the hotkey drivers, that is what would control the hotkey for brightness, not the video driver.

I'm also facing the same issue. Even after trying several drivers issue still exist. Without intel drivers sleep, hibernate wont work as well you cannot change the brightness. Anybody has any solution without formatting the system.
