Is the drive recognized by BIOS?
Mechanical drives are really vulnerable to shocks. Most probably, the drive has sustained some physical damage.
My suggestion would be to take the HDD out of the system and attach it as a secondary drive to another computer. Then, you can see if it would be accessible.
