There must have been something wrong with the kid. To kill his father and then take the keyboard and continue playing video games????

If he didn't have any mental problems, he would have known that he did something wrong and tried to flee.

It trully is a horrible story and I feel sorry for the Mom who has to deal with that one incedent for the rest of her life.

The fact that the comments here probably represent the normal answers of any selected group of people astounds me. With a few exceptions, you all need to do some studying into psychological disorders. You know nothing about the kid or the parents, or even what games he was playing, but you assume so much. It's people like you that keep societies the world over in the dark ages.

Wow that is really screwed up. I would get mad if my parents took away my computer, but this is insane. Somebody need to get his priorities straightened up immediately... geez

and yet the conspiracy theorist in me thinks that the Russian government is going give him special training and enlist him in their secret police....

This is tragic,I blame society!

[citation][nom]pocketdrummer[/nom]I think it's all the same. We're animals too, after all. Whether an animal kills another over food or for revenge for killing one of it's own kind...[/citation]

Lol, I've never heard of animals killing for revenge.

My father locked my pc up with most of my belongings before because I was spending too much time on it, so I locked his bedroom and went for a walk. Waited for his call and I said "treat me like a child so I'll behave like one". He learned his lesson and so did I. I spent less time with the pc.
Now clearly this kid had an imbalance and couldnt reason with the situation within understandable limits and went over the edge. Poor father. Poor wife.

"The boy then continued to play computer games for several more hours before he fell asleep"

imagine a boy killing his own father with a sledgehammer then played again like nothing happened.

this serious man

I've had my keyboard and mouse take naway countless times. You know what I did? Called up my friends (OMG! SOMEONE HAS A FRIEND THAT ISN'T OVER 100 MILES AWAY AND I MET THEM IN THIS TING CALLED REAL LIFE), and played basketball.

Honestly, maybe there IS something to these institutes for addictions to gaming.

That is sad. Where are our kids going in the future. I mean, this dude killed his parent over something stupid. I hope he gets 30+ years to think about it.

Yes, this is extremely rare.

However, chimps have been known to coordinate attacks against neighbouring groups after certain incidents and murder them pretty brutally.

But they should be considered as some sort of intermediate stage between animals and people, like severely mentally damaged people.

[citation][nom]outlw6669[/nom]Waiting for Jack Thompson to blame this on violent video games. In 3... 2... 1...[/citation]

Video games do effects kids, as does music and television. kids minds are constantly developing well into there late teens, and for alot, well into there 20's. To be ignorant of this shows ones lack of concern for our future generations. Sure there are ALOT who don't get affected, but come on, lol, were a de-sensitized world community to good a true values.

[citation][nom]alexkitch[/nom]Kid should be beaten over the head WITH the keyboard until HE'S dead.Spoilt little ****.[/citation]

He might not have nessesarily been spoiled just horribly damaged and used the games as an escape or outlet. There was something wrong there in the first place.

This has nothing to do with violent video games. We don't even know what the game was. This is about addiction, and the thing the kid happened to be addicted to was video games. Same thing could have happened if his parents had intervened in his addiction to drugs or alcohol. Hell, he could have been playing Bejeweled for all we know.
