I'm a gamer: But I think games are MUCH too immersive and VIOLENT. "You are what you eat" is not just an old saying. If you play non-stop violent video games that changes who you are and desentisizes you to violence and moral standards. You can mark me down all you want, but violence has a serious effect on everyone the more you are around it....you will get used to it and not recognize how different you are compared to a church going person listening to instrumental music and practicing Yoga or whatever all day while watching the Lifetime network. Your personality and way you present yourself will be like night and day compared to that person (and in a bad way, that's for sure). Now, I play L4D2 and violent games when I have time, but I'm just saying -- don't be gullible to think these games, music and movies don't affect WHO you are.

I marked you down but I'm a hypocrite. I laughed for 5 minutes straight before saying "man... that's just wrong. Minus 1".

I agree with the others who say that this could have happened with anything. It could have been an Mp3 player, a bike, a gameboy, it's all about what the child was addicted to.

This kid wasn't made violent by the video games, it's very obvious that he had some kind of condition and freaked. (Now he may have gotten the sledge hammer idea from a video game, but what if he watched too much TV. it could have been a gun, a knife, anything.)

[citation][nom]MalixL[/nom]Games? Parenting? Wth...sounds more like this kid has some kind of serious mental defect or emotion disorder. Smells like Autism to me.[/citation]

How many autistic kids play PC games? Seriously though I wouldn't rule out mental disorders but to say it isn't the parents fault would be very hard to say. I wonder if he had some issues they were ignoring ?

You are a legend. Wrong, granted but that is funny as hell :)
[citation][nom]quantum mask[/nom]Not if he goes to a russian prison![/citation]
You too are a legend. You both just made my day

You're all wrong. I blame the Beatles. You know:

Bang! Bang! Maxwell's silver hammer
Came down upon his head.
Clang! Clang! Maxwell's silver hammer
Made sure that he was dead.

It's that Rock 'n Roll for sure!

[citation][nom]msdss[/nom]I don't think the parents or games are at fault... The kid was just fucked in the head...[/citation]

Exactly!!

Smash the kids nuts with a hammer, then stick him in jail. See if he gets a keyboard in jail when bubba is raping him.

An eye for an eye.

[citation][nom]sicpric[/nom]This is tragic,I blame society!Lol, I've never heard of animals killing for revenge.[/citation]

Well, elephant do this and im pretty sure a monkey would do it to, but Im not sure about the latter.

@dreamphantom_1977: I suggest you seek professional counseling as soon as possible.

@cichy69
Um... when some crazy-ass kid is threatening you with a sledge, while you are weaponless, and you just saw him kill your husband, even if you fucking furious, I think you'd give him what he wanted. Of course i'd probably beat the shit out of him while he was playing WoW. Kid never learned that the South Park episode WoW cant work in real life, or even in WoW

[citation][nom]Ramar[/nom]The fact that the comments here probably represent the normal answers of any selected group of people astounds me. With a few exceptions, you all need to do some studying into psychological disorders. You know nothing about the kid or the parents, or even what games he was playing, but you assume so much. It's people like you that keep societies the world over in the dark ages.[/citation]

[citation][nom]dribblesbarbax[/nom]My father locked my pc up with most of my belongings before because I was spending too much time on it, so I locked his bedroom and went for a walk. Waited for his call and I said "treat me like a child so I'll behave like one". He learned his lesson and so did I. I spent less time with the pc.Now clearly this kid had an imbalance and couldnt reason with the situation within understandable limits and went over the edge. Poor father. Poor wife.[/citation]

Loved that.
