Got a new headset to replace my old USB headset, and i find out that my Headphone and Microphone Jacks on my computer don't work. i've tried several things, and it isn't recognising anything i put in, and i need help. Do i need to replace it? Can i fix it? It's a handmedown from my dad, but he said everything was fine on it. i've still had it a long time, with my USB headset, and just now i begin to notice the distinct lack of sound from my new headset. Help?

Solution
Go into the sound software, and make sure that the volume is up, and mute is unchecked for both the mic and the headphone jack.

If they are not working, than you need a new USB headset to bypass the defunct jacks.
