Hello. My requirement is to bypass the TV's internal speakers completely and by default play all audio through the home theater - whether its Netflix, Plex or Cable TV. I am not entirely sure but I have read that a Toslink cable may be the solution.

I have this TV - it has a Digital Optical Audio Out port: https://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/samsung/h5203

I have this Blu Ray home theater system that has an Optical Audio In port: http://www.lg.com/ca_en/home-theater-systems/lg-BH7430PB

Will the Toslink cable be compatible and the desired solution? And, is this a static plug and play solution or will I need to routinely change TV sound settings?

Thanks for reading.

Solution
Yes, using an optical cable to output sound to an external sound device is very common, to avr's and soundbars.

Most tvs will output sound via optical automatically and some needing to enable in the menu settings.

As for tv speakers turning off while optical is in use, there may be an option to toggle them in the sound menu but just lowering volume if not an option is easy enough too

Connection notes for audio devices

● For better audio quality, it is a good idea to use an AV receiver.
● Connecting a device using an optical cable does not automatically turn off the TV speakers. To
turn off the TV's speakers, set Speaker List (TOOLS Speaker List) to something other than TV
Speaker.
" You can also display the Speaker List when you adjust the volume, and then press the button.
● An unusual noise coming from the audio device while you are using it may indicate a
problem with the audio device itself. If this occurs, ask for assistance from the audio device's
manufacturer.
● Digital audio is only available with 5.1-channel broadcasts

Thanks Boju. I will purchase this cable and report results over the weekend.

@delaro, I suspect you have linked me to a generic Samsung TV manual, however, it reaffirms what I've come across. Thanks.
