I bought this microphone https://www.amazon.com/SOAIY-Omnidirectional-Recording-Microphone-Conference/dp/B01KYVQ94U/ for PC use with Skype and I found that it doesn't work for PC, only for smart phones. I am planning to buy this adapter https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01ASF26N0 which is meant for headphones. I'm wondering whether I can use this adapter for microphones even if it is meant for headphones. Thanks.

strange that it has a 4 pole trrs, but i would tend to agree that an adapter may work. not the style you listed as you cant be sure what its doing with the wiring but this one or similar style https://www.amazon.com/Seadream-Female-Headset-Stereo-Splitter/dp/B01625ZZUG/ref=sr_1_6?s=aht&ie=UTF8&qid=1476886457&sr=1-6&keywords=trrs+to+trs+adapter which is trrs female (accepts 4pole headsets) and splits it into 3pole mic and headphone. you would, i assume, just be using the mic portion of the cable.

a note about lavalier microphones:
most of them on the market require an amplifier to be used with devices. only in cases where they specifically state that they do not need an amplifier or are designed to be plug and play with devices is this...

Sorry I forgot to say in the original post that plugging the mic into the mic port doesn't work on PC. It only works on smartphones.
