Can I play RCA red/white output through 3.5mm input on bluetooth speaker

My wife bought a second hand digital projector for work. Her laptop only has HDMI video out and the projector only has VGA, RCA, and SVideo video in.

I have ordered an HDMI to RCA yellow/red/white digital to analog converter (see link ) which should play the video

but she also needs to play audio concurrently from the same computer, preferably through a bluetooth speaker she has just bought that has a 3.5mm input jack. It may be possible to select in audio settings to play video through HDMI and audio through bluetooth or 3.5mm headphone jack to the speaker but I am concerned that the HDMI will automatically take the audio with the video and not let me select.

1. Am I likely to be able to select to play the audio through the bluetooth speaker (which I know works without the video connected) once the video is connected to the projector via HDMI to RCA converter linked above?

2. If no, or not sure, would an RCA to 3.5 converter (see link) convert back from the red/white RCA to play through the 3.5mm iinput in the speaker?

Sorry for my ignorance. I bought a HDMI to VGA cable (with no digital to analog converter) and expected it to work and I need it fixed before she starts a new job next week.

The output will probably be taken by the HDMI as you think and so yes, using that other lead from RCA to 3.5mm Jack will be perfect.

Windows gets funny when you try and play with different outputs, but it can be possible sometimes, but probably more hassle than doing the above option.

If you have another audio line connected to your computer (headphones or bluetooth speakers), you should be able to select the sound output from the sound settings in Windows. More than likely, the laptop will default to send the audio over hdmi (unless it's an older out of date laptop) when connected. Right-click your sound icon from the system tray (by the clock) and select playback devices. Should be able to change the output there.

Phaelax is correct in what he says, as long as you are using Windows 10, but can still be a bit buggy.
Windows 7 was a nightmare for alternative outputs.

Thanks both of you.I suspect you are both correct. For what the cable will cost (Big W have them for $6 and Bunnings for $12 here in Australia) I'll try the cable. I will update with what works once I have the digital-analog adaptor and can try it, which will probably be early next week.

I would use the wired connection to the speaker. Just more reliable and can't introduce a delay.
You can try using some audio routing software. Might make it easier than depending on windows.

You will have to set the video output of the laptop to 800x600 manually since the converter won't let the laptop do that automatically the way it would if the projector had HDMI.
